The Razor E200 Charger was totally different that finding the batteries online. It seemed that most outlets that sold the Razor E200 Electric Scooter sold the charger separately as well. And at first I thought that it was probably a poor design if they had to sell so many of these things, but that’s not it at all. What happens is these chargers get left everywhere, outside, in the driveway, in the grass, near the door. They take a lot of abuse, can be yanked out of the scooter and damaged in numerous ways. So it is a part of the package that gets worn out quicker than one might think.
The first place I found these was where you find the scooter. So for the Razor E200 Charger, well, take your pick – Wal-Mart, KMart, etc. You can also find the chargers for sale online, and sometimes with discounts that you cannot find in the stores. The reason for this is that many websites believe you will also venture (like the brick and mortar stores) into other places on the website and buy accessories. Still, it pays to shop. For example, the Razor E200 Charger was $24.77 at one place but you had to pay for shipping. Not too much of a problem because the charger isn’t going to weigh as much as batteries.
But there are many different chargers for scooters on the market. You need to make sure that you are getting one that is compatible with your scooter; in this case the Razor E200 Electric Scooter. Make sure the pins are correct for the receptacle. Getting back to one of the earlier issues with the Razor E200 Charger is that people, mainly kids, pull the cord out by the wire or even by the heavy plastic near the plug and with time damage the inner cord and many times the connector itself. So be very careful if you are now purchasing your second charger that you unplug it from the Razor E200 Electric Scooter correctly.
Another issue with the Razor E200 Charger is that if you don’t buy the Razor brand, you may buy something that doesn’t charge as heavily as the original part. Two things usually happen: one, the charger that is not really designed for the Razor E200 may over-heat, and another, the third party charger will not charge the Razor E200 sufficiently (deep charge) even though the charging light goes out. You need to make sure that the Razor E200 Charger is designed for the Razor E200 Electric Scooter you purchased. This can be done by verifying online or in the store, or by calling the vendor and making sure you can return the charger if it does not do the job.
So spend time first making sure you have the right Razor E200 Charger, and secondly, making sure you are getting the best price on it and that it will work at all with your electric scooter. And yes, make sure the place will let you return it if it doesn’t work for some reason.
